Luc Vrolijks Luc Vrolijks is a prominent urban design professional with a broad international experience in urban design, strategic planning and scenario development. Over the last 15 years, Luc has worked as project manager and lead designer in over 70 comprehensive urban design projects in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Germany. He has helped develop new interactive planning and design strategies and has implemented these along a range of scales and time frames. Through these experiences, Luc has become a senior urban design expert who (1) is able to apply urban design as a tool in a complex setting of parties and interests; (2) has extensive knowledge of plans and proposals around the world; and (3) is able to work on urban design in an open and communicative setting with communities. Climate adaptation and sustainability are the core focus of Luc's work. He delivered strategic climate and sustainability studies at various levels, experimental design proposals and detailed urban studies. Luc combines his strategic urban planning insights with his in-depth knowledge of adaptation to natural hazards and risk analysis strategies . In the 1990's, he worked for the United Nations System for five years to design the conceptual frameworks for the mitigation of natural disasters. These approaches are currently applied to adapt societies to changing climate.
