A first round table meeting was held for CITYINNOVATORS on April 22nd in Utrecht. In the meeting, ten invited experts discussed and commented on the proposed European Master Class Sustainable Alliances for Urban and Regional Development. The discussion underlined the importance of alliances in urban development and suggested ways forward for the design of the Master Class. The team is following up with adapted proposals and ideas for CityInnovators. www.cityinnovators.com

The Brooklyn-Rotterdam Waterfront Exchange held a three day workshop to deliver innovative perspectives for the Southwest Brooklyn waterfront, including Red Hook and Brooklyn. The Dutch team consisted of representatives from the Rotterdam city planning department, area development specialists involved in Stadshavens -the major harbor transformation project in Rotterdam - and advisors in planning, water management and engineering. Luc Vrolijks contributed as a Dutch advisor to the 'economic strategies group' of the workshop and helped design a new broad strategic approach for the area. A follow-up meeting addressing development strategies will be held in Rotterdam from June 1st to June 3rd.
 
At the invitation of the Netherlands Embassy, Luc Vrolijks participated in the Dutch Dialogues III in New Orleans. This three day workshop was held prior to the American Planning Association 2010 COnference in New Orleans. It delivered innovative urban design and water management perspectives for parts of Central New Orleans. The workshop findings were presented at the APA conference on April 11. The Urban Progress team has rounded off the concept of "City Climate Plans, Comparative Analysis and Outlook for the Next Generation". The study analyses the Climate Action Plans of New York, Chicago, Seattle, Portland and San Francisco, and analyzes what are key areas for the next generation of climate plans.
