Dauwtrappen, Pijnacker – proposal for the Casa Nova Idea Competition
This competition was an invitation to think about new opportunities for suburban areas, in this case around the light-rail station of the Dutch town of Pijnacker. Age Fluitman, in colaboration with Lug-sl, proposed a plan with a high level of diversity in dwellings and maximum freedom in architecture; a plan in which the surrounding 'polder'-landscape is combined with the station to form the center of the new neighbourhood: a hub between landscape and city. The proposal suggests that people can build their own house, either in a horizontal plot, or in a vertical structure. The resident-builders will develop a strong community feeling by discussing how to develop their plots (8 dwellings) and at the same time dwellings will have a strong individual expression. The result is a highly divers and coherent neighbourhood - a sustainable neighbourhood.
